London Primary Care Quality Academy Programmes

For London South Bank University Team, I have developed a number of the central elements of the programme. This includes:

  • Designing and delivery of a three day core concepts of quality course for GPs and other practice staff.
  • Supporting the development of data systems to capture the rate of failure demand which GPs encounter.
  • On-site coaching of individual general practices as part of a ‘lab’ group of practices. Helping practices with workload and flow pressures. This results in practices being able to reduce GP costs whilst providing a fundamental improvement in access.
  • Co-delivering communities of practice to develop and spread learning in a sustainable way.
  • Senior stakeholder engagement and clinical leadership interventions.

Darzi Fellowship Programme – QI and Flow Workshops

Development and delivery of a week long Core Concepts of Quality workshop. Run by London South Bank University, the London Darzi programme is a high profile programme designed to develop emerging NHS leaders’ confidence and capability in leading complex change.

I contribute to the programme in two ways:

  • Coaching individual Darzi fellows around their project areas. Helping to define scope, create working improvement hypotheses and measurement plans.
  • Design and delivery of modular workshop elements of the programme, by using a mix of delivery styles and simulation. Specifically around core quality and improvement concepts such as:
    • Variation
    • PDSA
    • Measurement
    • Flow (including capacity detractors and failure demand)

My contribution (workshops and coaching) to the course has been positively evaluated through formal evaluation in terms of learning outcomes. It always generates huge buzz, interest and engagement and provides participants with lasting, practical frameworks and methods on which to tackle operational and leadership challenges throughout their career.

Measurement and Monitoring of Safety E Guide – Author

Working with my friends at the Office of Public Management. I was the author of an E Guide detailing the learning around the practical application of The Health Foundation’s Measurement and Monitoring of Safety Framework. This included the whole production process from writing to design. Funded by the Health Foundation, the content was derived from a two year programme collaborating with three regional improvement bodies and numerous provider trusts.
